When does the heating season start and what changes are expected for tariffs?
The heating season in Ukraine is approaching, and many people want to know when their homes will be warm.
The government claims that gas and heating tariffs will remain stable, despite the military situation and economic difficulties. However, the exact date of the start of heating will depend on weather conditions and decisions by local authorities.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, heating will begin when the average daily temperature for three days does not exceed +8°C. This usually occurs in mid-October, but local authorities can start or delay its activation, taking into account the actual temperatures. Sometimes, educational and medical institutions receive heat earlier to protect children and patients from the cold.
Municipal services explain that the connection to the heating system is carried out in stages to avoid overloads, but the main factor remains the air temperature.
Against the background of martial law in Ukraine, the government has banned the increase in gas and heat tariffs for the population, which means that prices will remain at the previous level. However, the cost in payments may vary depending on the presence of meters and the temperature in the home – the warmer it is outside the house, the more accurate the metering, the less you will have to pay.
Local authorities emphasize that the main goal is not only to start the heating season on time, but also to ensure the stability of its supply even in wartime. Officials note that they are preparing for possible challenges, striving to ensure that Ukrainians can feel comfortable in their homes without additional financial burdens.
