Boy missing in UK, mother suspected of kidnapping him

A three-year-old British boy has gone missing in Marbella, Spain, after it was reported that his Russian mother had abducted him.

The boy’s father, who is also a British citizen, reported his son, known only as Oliver P, missing to the police. The search for the child and his mother began on Thursday evening, and the investigation was classified as “child abduction by the father.”

According to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Oliver was born on November 3, 2021. He was last seen in Marbella on July 4. The boy has gray eyes, blond hair, is 85 cm tall, and weighs 15 kg.

According to initial information, the father last heard from his son on July 4, although local media reported that he only contacted police on August 7.

Police confirmed that the child’s parents, who lived on the Costa del Sol, were divorced and there was a court order preventing the mother from taking the boy out of Spain. According to unconfirmed reports, the mother may have left the country and possibly taken her son to Russia.

It is currently unclear what the terms of custody were or whether an international arrest warrant was issued for the mother. The Spanish National Police are involved in the search for Oliver.

The issue of a possible international warrant and the mother’s extradition to Spain must be decided by the court. The lack of formal extradition agreements between Russia and many Western countries, including Spain and the United Kingdom, causes difficulties.
