“Wanted” status: how to find out the reason and prevent problems
During mobilization, Ukrainians may be put on the wanted list by territorial recruitment and social support centers. It is important to note that this search has nothing to do with criminal cases. The “wanted” status arises only in cases of violation of military registration rules or legislation related to mobilization and defense training.
The CCC and the SP determine the grounds for putting a citizen on the wanted list. For example, in cases of failure to appear for a summons or inability to attend a military medical commission, the center may submit a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to deliver the offender.
Lawyer Maryna Bekalo emphasized that to obtain detailed information about the offense, it is necessary to apply to the CCC and the SP with a written request or to visit the center in person. “Only these bodies can provide accurate information about the reasons for the wanted list, such as failure to appear for a summons or failure to pass the VLK,” she noted.
It should be noted that the status of “wanted” does not indicate the existence of a criminal case and is not entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations. This is an administrative procedure related to monitoring performance during mobilization.
The police also have the right and obligation to deliver persons declared wanted to the CCC and the SP. Police authorities, based on information from the CCC, may require citizens to draw up protocols on administrative offenses.
To find out the reasons for declaring a person wanted, you need to contact the territorial recruitment center directly or send a written request. This practice avoids misunderstandings during mobilization.
For detailed information, you can contact the local branches of the CCC and SP, which provide consultations on fulfilling mobilization requirements. It is important to remember that the status of “wanted” is not a sign of criminal liability, but rather an administrative measure to control military registration.
