Ukraine received 163 million UAH of compensation from the French company in the case

The French company has been ordered to compensate Ukraine for 3.377 million euros in the case of a polygraph plant, a decision made by a court in Paris.

This is the first time Ukraine has received a refund stolen as a result of corruption abroad. The state budget will receive 3.377 million euros (approximately 163 million hryvnias) from the French company, which is a person involved in the investigation conducted by NABU and the SAP, regarding abuse at the state-owned enterprise “Polygraph Combine” in Ukraine.

On July 8, the French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office signed an agreement with the company. On September 3, a court in Paris officially approved this Agreement, which became the legal basis for transferring funds to Ukraine.

The research conducted by NABU and SAP found that the Polygraph Combine purchased materials from a French company at inflated prices through an Estonian firm that acted as a mediator. The former head of a state-owned enterprise received an undue benefit in the form of copyright for the design of protective elements of documents. In general, the suspicions are put forward by eight persons, including the owner of the enterprise.

This result was achieved through a joint investigative group, which included NABU, SAP representatives, as well as law enforcement officers from France and Estonia under the supervision of the European. Collaboration with foreign colleagues was facilitated through the Global OECD GLEN network, which helped establish stable partnerships with numerous countries. The Star (Stolen Asset Recovery) initiative played a significant role in this process.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with Ukraine, facilitated a favorable decision in France. NABU expressed its gratitude to the international partners, the SAP, and the International Legal Department of the State Bureau for productive cooperation.

It is also worth noting that NABU and SAP have been suspicious of the acting director of the Odessa airport due to the losses of the enterprise for more than UAH 15.6 million.
