NABU and SAP have been suspected by the head of the Odessa airport due to losses of UAH 15.6 million

NABU and SAP were presented with suspicions regarding the V.O. General Director of KP “International Airport of Odesa” in connection with damage to the enterprise for more than 15.6 million hryvnias.

According to the press service of the department, the investigation found that the official has not deliberately applied for the certification of the aerodrome to the State Aviation Service, which would enable the enterprise since 2003 to make a profit from providing services to airlines, such as take-off, landing, and parking.

Instead, instead of protecting the interests of the utility, the suspect helped to obtain the status of the airport operator by a private company. As a result, in December 2020, the KP lost this status, and a private company began to profit from aircraft services.

The actions are qualified under Article 364 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for abuse of office, which has led to grave consequences.

In June 2025, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine approved an agreement on the recognition of guilt of seven persons involved in a criminal organization that controlled the activities of Odesa Airport and received illegal income. The investigation revealed that within the framework of the criminal scheme, a property complex at the airport was seized, with a total value exceeding 118 million hryvnias, and revenues exceeding UAH 2.5 billion. Prosecutorial actions were allowed to return the airport to the city. The defendants were sentenced to 7 to 8 years of imprisonment, as well as penalties, but some of them were released during the trial.
