Changes in the amount of alimony
When setting alimony, the subsistence minimum for children of the appropriate age is taken as the basis. In 2026, these indicators will change, which will lead to a review of the amount of alimony.
According to the Budget Declaration for 2026-2028, it is planned to increase the bare subsistence minimum for children. According to the new legislation, in 2026, it will have the following values:
For children under 6 years old, the subsistence minimum will be 2783 hryvnias.
For children aged 6 to 18 years old: 3,471 hryvnias.
Today, the current indicators are 2563 and 3196 hryvnias for these age categories, respectively.
How will the amount of alimony change?
According to the legislation, the minimum amount of alimony is calculated as half of the subsistence minimum for a child of a certain age. So, in 2026, the minimum alimony will be:
1391.5 hryvnias for children under 6 years old;
1735.5 hryvnias for children from 6 years old to adulthood.
At the same time, the recommended amount of alimony to be paid is twice as high and is equal to the subsistence minimum for a child of a specific age. In 2026, it will look like this:
2783 hryvnias for toddlers under 6 years old;
3471 hryvnias for children aged 6-18 years old.
Also, the maximum amount of alimony in 2026 will increase and will be:
27830 hryvnias for children under 6 years old;
34710 hryvnias for children from 6 to 18 years old.
Parents can reach an agreement on a larger amount of alimony by drawing up a corresponding agreement.
