James Makeva attacked in Toronto bar during TIFF film festival

In Toronto, during the TIFF International Film Festival, actor James McAvoy was attacked at the Charlotte’s Room bar. The incident occurred on Monday night, about a few hours before midnight, after the premiere of his directorial debut, “California Schemin’.”

According to the information, McAvoy attempted to calm an aggressive visitor whom security was about to remove from the establishment. At that moment, the man unexpectedly hit the actor while he was standing with his back to him.

According to a source close to the actor, after the attack, he felt pretty well, stayed in the bar, and took the situation with humor. At that time, James was speaking with the film’s producers.

The film “California Schemin'” tells the story of two Scottish rappers from Dundee — Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd. In the early 2000s, they struggled to break into the London music industry due to their accent, so the musicians decided to form a duo called Silibil N’ Brains, which impersonated American artists.

Before the premiere, Makevoy expressed his admiration for the film’s characters and compared them to popular favorites: “Nobody cares that they got caught, Nobody cares that they didn’t become famous.
