Ukrainian intelligence struck a Russian ship in the Black Sea near Novorossiysk

Special units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out a strike on a Russian warship near Novorossiysk. The attack, which took place on September 10, was carried out using a Ukrainian drone.

The GUR of the Ministry of Defense reported this on September 11.

The target of the operation was a multipurpose support vessel (MPSV), part of the MPSV07 project, belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. According to intelligence, during the attack, the Russian ship was conducting electronic reconnaissance and patrolling the approaches to the Novorossiysk Bay, where the remnants of the enemy fleet group are concentrated.

“At the time of the strike, the enemy ship was conducting electronic reconnaissance and patrolling around the Novorossiysk Bay, where the remnants of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are operating,” the intelligence report states.

The attack was aimed at the control bridge, where navigation and communication equipment are located. As a result of the successful strike, the electronic intelligence system was destroyed, and the ship itself was rendered inoperable, necessitating significant repair costs.

This ship was built in 2015; its cost is approximately $ 60 million, and there are only four such units in Russia.

These vessels are equipped with modern surveillance and analysis equipment, including diving installations, underwater drones, sonar, and electronic information collection systems. They are also capable of conducting seabed surveys; the total power of their engines is about 4 MW.

Recent losses of the Russian Black Sea Fleet

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has suffered the loss of 28 combat units of the fleet, including one submarine.

Recently, Ukrainian intelligence has been more actively carrying out pinpoint strikes on enemy ships and infrastructure in the Black Sea.

Thus, on August 21, the GUR reported the destruction of a Russian military boat near the temporarily occupied Zalizny Port in the Kherson region.

“All five crew members were eliminated,” the intelligence officers reported at the time.

On August 22, it became known about a successful operation in Novorossiysk, where Ukrainian special services eliminated five elite Russian divers.

Ukrainian drones also struck a successful blow, turning off a BK-16 project boat and destroying three Russian radars: Nebo-SVU, Podlyot K-1, and 96L6E, despite active enemy fire.
