DiCaprio told how he was offered to change his name for a successful career as a child

Leonardo DiCaprio shared an interesting story about how his agent advised him to change his name to Williams, believing that his real name was “too ethnic.” The actor revealed this information during an interview on the New Heights Podcast with Jason and Travis Kelsea.

DiCaprio noted that this moment became one of the most unpleasant in his life at the beginning of his career. He was only 12 or 13 years old, and this idea did not find support for either him or his father.

The father of the actor, seeing a photo of his son with a new name, tore her into pieces and stated, “Only through my corpse.” Due to this, DiCaprio retained his name, and the agent’s forecasts that he would not receive a single role were not confirmed.

However, the path to childhood success was not an easy one. “I was engaged in breakdown and sometimes danced on the street for money. My hairstyle was short,” the actor said.

In his opinion, agents did not want to deal with him at the time. In the casting process, actors are lined up and chosen as “goods”. DiCaprio has repeatedly received refusals.

“I remember saying to my father,” It’s terrible. “But I was returned to the castings again – and the situation was repeated,” Oscar laureate recalled.
