Drones will prove even more deadly, even despite air defenses

Kyiv could be under serious threat from the use of large FPV drones. The city needs to actively prepare for possible challenges and carefully respond to air alarms.

It is essential to understand how these drones work, why they are difficult to destroy with traditional defense means, and what measures residents can take to reduce the risks.

Large-format FPV drones have special tactical advantages: they are maneuverable, fly at low and medium altitudes, can quickly change course, and can bypass standard air defense systems. This encourages specialists to develop combined solutions, ranging from local detection to autonomous interception methods.

For the population, this means you should carry charged communication devices, follow the instructions of rescuers, and not ignore alarm signals. If suspicious objects are detected, you should urgently notify the relevant services and refrain from taking independent actions.

According to the deputy commander of the 21st OPBS, Yegor Firsov, enemy FPV drones can currently approach a distance of up to 40 km, and this figure will continue to grow. He noted that Kyiv should be prepared for new threats, as opponents may try to destroy energy infrastructure. Technologies for protection already exist, but they require greater integration into defense structures.
