This year, the main autumn holiday – the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was traditionally celebrated on October 14, is celebrated on October 1. This change was a consequence of the transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to a new calendar.

Thus, the townspeople were saved, and the holiday was named – Protection.

On October 1, believers visit churches, light candles, and ask for blessings for their families. Young girls turn to heaven with prayers for a happy marriage, as they believe that on this day, their requests receive special attention.

This autumn has affected traditions: homemakers prepare delicious pancakes, harvest the harvest, and hang an embroidered towel by the door as a talisman, which previously kept the icon of the Virgin Mary.
