Ukraine reports death of citizen on S5 highway in Poland — police are investigating the circumstances

On Monday, October 6, a 53-year-old Ukrainian citizen died near Leszno (Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland). He was found unconscious next to a parked Audi.

A local police representative, Monika Żymielka, confirmed this information. After GDDKiA employees noticed the car, they called the police. The police officers tried to help the man, but their attempts were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Investigators are currently working at the scene together with the prosecutor to establish the causes of the tragedy. Due to this incident, traffic on the S5 section was restricted in the morning, with cars able to travel in only one lane.

Also in Wrocław, unknown persons damaged the car of a Ukrainian citizen, removing the license plates from it and leaving a provocative inscription on the body. The car’s owner immediately contacted the police, who have already launched an investigation and are trying to identify those involved in the incident. Law enforcement officers do not exclude the possibility that xenophobic sentiments may be manifested in this way.

In addition, drivers are reminded that new rules apply to Ukrainians who have been in Poland for more than 180 days: they are no longer allowed to use Ukrainian driver’s licenses and must exchange them for Polish ones. Fines are provided for violation of these rules. It is also essential to have a valid “Green Card” insurance policy for trips to Poland and EU countries.
