On a date, a Kyiv resident attacked an online acquaintance because of her appearance

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 22-year-old man who beat and robbed a girl during a meeting. He explained his aggression by the fact that, in his opinion, her appearance did not match the photo she had posted on the Internet.

A 26-year-old Kyiv resident turned to the police, saying that during a meeting with a young man she had met online, he suddenly attacked her. The investigative and operational group of the Pechersk department was called to the scene.

It turned out that during the conflict, the attacker took out an air pistol, threatening the girl, and then struck her in the head and body. After that, he stole 500 hryvnias and disappeared from the scene.

The police, together with colleagues and analysts, quickly identified the attacker and detained him in a friend’s apartment. During a search, an air gun was found on him.

The investigation, under the procedural guidance of the Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office, charged the man with suspicion under Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed with the use of violence under martial law.

The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention with the possibility of posting bail. He faces up to 15 years in prison, with property confiscation.
