Attack on energy facilities: factories in Russia caught fire due to drone strikes

On the night of Sunday, October 19, in Orenburg and Novokuybyshevsk, there was an attack by drones on industrial facilities, which led to fires.

The governor of the Orenburg region, Yevgeny Solntsev, confirmed that a gas processing plant was targeted by drones, resulting in one of the workshops catching fire. Rescue services are working at the scene.

There is also information about a strike on the refinery in Novokuybyshevsk, located in the Samara region. According to the source “Crimean Wind”, a hit was recorded at this enterprise, which was also accompanied by a flash of fire.

The Novokuybyshevsk plant specializes in the production of jet-engine fuel and lubricants, and also supplies products for passenger cars. The plant’s annual processing volume is 8.8 million tons of oil. This figure is given without changes.

On September 20 of this year, drones had already attacked the Novokuybyshev oil refinery, which also damaged an enterprise in Saratov. Then, explosions and fires occurred at the facilities, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On October 16, the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Saratov refinery had been hit again. This plant is one of the oldest in Russia’s oil refining sector.

The causes of the attacks and the extent of the damage are currently being clarified. The information is updated in accordance with official statements and media publications.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, in the war against Ukraine, Russia is increasingly using its territories to conclude agreements with foreign states, as the Kremlin faces difficulties in developing the Far East.
