Charles III stripped Prince Andrew of his titles and evicted him from Windsor

King Charles III has decided to strip Prince Andrew of all his titles and honors and has ordered him to be evicted from his Windsor estate, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The royal family’s move is an attempt to distance itself from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Andrew was stripped of his title as Duke of York earlier this month. He will now be known only as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and will be forced to move to a private residence on the Sandringham estate in East Anglia.

Buckingham Palace said the king and his “deepest condolences” are extended to victims of violence in all its forms. Reuters believes that Charles III’s decision is one of the most radical steps taken against a member of the royal family in recent British history.

Prince Andrew first came to the fore in the Epstein case in 2015, when Virginia Giuffre alleged that he had sexual relations with her when she was 17, suggesting that she was handed over to him as an underage sex slave.

In her memoir, Giuffre recalled meeting Andrew three times, including on Epstein’s private island during an “orgy” attended by several other women who appeared to be under 18. She claimed that Andrew considered sex with her his “birthright”.

Andrew stepped down from royal duties in 2019 and was stripped of his military ranks in 2022 over the scandal. He denied all charges, but in 2022, he settled with Giuffre, paying her an undisclosed sum and donating to charity.

Giuffre reportedly committed suicide in Australia in April 2025, while struggling with custody of her three children during her divorce from Robert Giuffre.
