Ukrainians will be given the opportunity to retire early: for whom, in what amount and under what conditions
Some Ukrainians may be able to retire early due to health problems.
According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), this option is available to employees who were dismissed at the employer’s initiative due to the inability to continue working for medical reasons.
According to Article 115 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance”, the right to an early pension may be obtained by:
- men with at least 35 years of insurance experience;
- women with 30 years of experience;
- persons who have no more than 1.5 years left before reaching retirement age.
To apply for an early pension, it is necessary to provide medical documentation confirming the state of health, in particular:
- a certificate from the medical advisory commission on the need to change the place of work;
- an extract from the MSEK act or a document confirming disability;
- an opinion of an expert commission on the capabilities of a person with a disability;
- medical certificate on the impossibility of performing official duties (for civil servants);
- certificate of the results of a periodic medical examination.
After receiving a medical document, the employer is obliged to offer the employee another position that is suitable for their health. If there is no such position, or the employee does not want to be transferred, dismissal is possible on the grounds provided for by the Labor Code or the Law “On Civil Service”. Dismissal must be carried out only with the consent of the trade union, if there is one at the enterprise.
After dismissal, an employee can apply for an early pension at any branch of the Pension Fund if there is no more than one and a half years left until retirement age.
When applying, you must attach:
- a document confirming the state of health;
- a certificate of insurance experience;
- a passport and identification code.
Earlier, it was reported that requirements for the length of service for retirement were increasing, as well as the possibility of additional payments for pensioners. In some cases, a month of service may be counted as three, making retirement easier for specific categories of citizens.
