Promising specialties for applicants that will provide a large profit
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said plumbers, electricians, and carpenters will be the most in-demand professions in vocational schools. He noted that experts in these fields have the potential to become millionaires, as the growing demand for their services will accompany the development of infrastructure and new technologies.
Huang noted that even today, construction workers without a college degree can earn more than $100,000 a year. “If you are an electrician or a plumber, we need hundreds of thousands of such professionals to build new factories. The segment of skilled workers worldwide is growing at an incredible pace. The volume of work will have to double annually,” he emphasized.
Recently, it became known that Nvidia plans to invest $ 100 billion in OpenAI to develop data centers based on artificial intelligence technologies. According to McKinsey, global investment in the construction of such centers may reach $7 trillion by 2030.
The construction of one data center with an area of more than 23,000 square meters can attract up to 1,500 construction workers, many of whom earn more than $100,000 a year, including overtime. Upon completion, the center could employ around 50 full-time employees, with each new job adding 3.5% to the local economy’s growth.
Huang emphasized that his call for more electricians, plumbers, and carpenters reflects his belief that new opportunities in technology lie not only in software but also in the physical sciences. At the beginning of the year, when asked what he would have chosen to study in his 20s, he said that he would have focused on the natural sciences.
