Ukrainians who will reach retirement age before the end of 2025 should be especially careful when choosing when to submit documents to the Pension Fund.

Viktor Bogdanov, an expert in pension provision, says pensions could increase by 15% in 2026. This is a profitable opportunity if the application is submitted after the New Year.

The fact is that in 2026, the pension will be calculated based on the average salary for the three previous years (2023-2025). As the average wage is expected to increase by more than 2,000 hryvnias, this will automatically lead to a 15% increase in the pension. So, those who turn 60 at the end of 2025, it is more profitable to apply after January 1, 2026.

The expert also emphasizes that the pension application must be submitted within three months after reaching retirement age. For example, if the birthday falls on November 11, 2025, then it is necessary to apply to the Pension Fund no later than February 10, 2026, for the payment to start on the day after the 60th birthday. Otherwise, you can lose part of the payments.

In addition, the specialist advises checking the correctness of the pension calculation, in particular, taking into account the best 60 months of work before July 2000 without breaks. This can significantly affect the amount of future payments.
