Mobilization of men over 50: who can be drafted and who is entitled to a deferment
Men over 50 years of age can be mobilized according to general rules. To do this, they need to pass a military medical commission (VLK) and report to the territorial recruitment center (TCK) upon call.
If a person is recognized as fit for service due to health and has the appropriate military specialty, he can be mobilized even after reaching 55 or 59.
Usually, such conscripts are not sent to the front line. They perform tasks in the rear, as drivers, technicians, logisticians, or support specialists. However, the final decision remains with the unit command.
Who among men after 50 years of age is not subject to mobilization
According to the Ukrainian legislation “On Mobilization Training and Mobilization”, persons who:
Are recognized as unfit for service due to health;
Have a disability of any group;
are raising three or more minor children on their own;
are caring for persons with disabilities;

The complete list of grounds for exemption from mobilization is specified in the relevant law.
In addition, volunteer and driver Dmitry Pyshchykov, who accompanied actress Angelina Jolie during her visit, confirmed his safety after his recent detention. In his address, he expressed gratitude for the support and recalled his intention to undergo training and continue serving.
