Power outages: is Ukraine facing an energy catastrophe?
Despite the constant attacks in the war, the Ukrainian energy infrastructure remains under control. This was stated on the air of the “Ranok.LIVE” program by Serhiy Nagornyak, a deputy from the “Servant of the People” party.
According to Nagornyak, the key facilities of the Ukrenergo transmission system operator are well protected against drones and missiles. He noted that air defense effectiveness has increased significantly compared to 2022.
The deputies emphasized that Ukraine has already established many protective measures that prevent the separation of the energy system and the blocking of electricity transmission from nuclear power plants to the regions.
However, Nagornyak admitted that short-term power outages are possible after the shelling. However, he assured that this will not lead to catastrophic consequences and no longer threatens Ukraine’s energy system, as the enemy expects.
The deputy emphasized that Ukrainians should be prepared for temporary power outages following new attacks on infrastructure, but energy companies will quickly restore electricity supply.
