Bernie Sanders Criticizes “AI Oligarchs”

A significant investment forum was held in Washington on November 19, bringing together prominent businesspeople and world leaders. Among the guests were US President Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, and technology company executives, including Elon Musk, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and OpenAI’s Greg Brockman.

While not directly criticizing all forum participants, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders focused on figures such as Trump, Musk, Huang, Brockman, and others. In his message, Sanders described these businessmen as “powerful AI oligarchs” who were granted privileged access to a private dinner with a ruler known for his brutal treatment of his own citizens.

In his commentary, he noted: “These are some of the most powerful people in the world who are having fun in the company of a dictator who does not hesitate to use cruelty against his own citizens.”

In addition to those criticized by Sanders, about 50 executives from major companies across sectors attended the White House dinner, including Apple’s Tim Cook.

Sanders also harshly criticized the Saudi prince, noting that his actions led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of people in Yemen, as well as the murder of American journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the consulate in Istanbul. These tragedies have become essential points in the discussion about the moral aspects of business elites accepting such invitations and cooperating with authoritarian regimes.

The politician believes that Donald Trump continues to strengthen authoritarianism in the United States and hints that he has no intention of improving the well-being of ordinary Americans.
