Енергетики роз'яснили причини зменшення освітлення

Energy experts explained the reasons for the reduction in lighting

The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is becoming increasingly complicated after each attack. The Yasno company reported that shelling of energy infrastructure is hindering electricity supply from nuclear power plants. The company’s CEO, Serhiy Kovalenko, noted this information in his post.

He emphasized that the hostile shelling is aimed not only at nuclear power plants but also at energy transmission networks, complicating electricity delivery.

Kovalenko specified that as a result of the latest attack, energy facilities in seven regions were affected, which led to:

A decrease in production at three nuclear power plants due to damage to the networks.

Two plants that have been operating at reduced capacity since the beginning of November, one of which lost another high-voltage line after the strike.

One plant lost part of its external power supply.

As a result, four of the nine power units are forced to operate at reduced capacity, and some power lines require repair.

In addition, the cold snap is complicating the situation: electricity consumption is increasing, further burdening the system. Despite the difficulties, energy workers are working to provide consumers with electricity for longer periods. However, new shelling only worsens working conditions.

On November 19, the enemy once again attacked the power grids with drones and missiles, which led to the introduction of emergency shutdowns in many regions, which were later replaced by hourly schedules.

In Kyiv, on November 20, the power went out for all consumers for only 30 minutes.

The strikes also hit substations serving nuclear power plants, leading to a decrease in production. However, according to the Ministry of Energy, two of these plants have already resumed their work at full capacity.

Energy expert Volodymyr Omelchenko said the shutdown schedules can ease the situation only on weekends if there are no new attacks.

The ZNPP has restored its connection to the main power transmission line, which is essential for nuclear safety. Still, due to military operations, the situation remains difficult – some reactors are operating at reduced power after attacks on power grids.
