The release date of the American spin-off “Squid Games” has been announced

Production on the American version of the popular TV series “The Squid Game” has begun. The Alliance of Film and Television Industry database confirmed this information.

The project, which has a working title of The Squid Game: America, plans to begin shooting in Los Angeles in February 2026. Although Netflix has not yet announced the official launch, production documents have already listed the authors and the team working on the project.

The director of the new series will be David Fincher, and the script will be developed by Dennis Kelly, known for the musical “Matilda. The executive producer will be Hwang Dong-hyuk, the author of the original “Squid Game”.

Kate Blanchett, who appeared in the finale of the third season of the Korean version of the series, has already been confirmed among the cast. This scene was seen as a cameo at the time, and Hwang Dong-hyuk himself previously denied any connection between this scene and the spin-off, considering it part of the spectacular ending. Now her participation has a new context.

As described earlier, the plot of “Squid Games: America” will unfold in the same universe as the original, focusing on how similar games are organized in the United States.

It is currently unknown whether familiar characters will appear in the new version, including the Frontman, played by Lee Ben Hong.
