Her mother used a starch solution to glue tulle to windows in the summer, initially to protect plants from sunlight.

However, this simple method played an important role during the explosion in a neighboring house. The glass windows, although cracked, did not fly inward, which saved people from injuries. Thus, ordinary tulle performed the function of an armored film, which is usually used for safety.

This process is very easy:

Dissolve one tablespoon of starch in one liter of water.
Bring the mixture to a boil, wait for it to thicken, and cool to a warm state.
Cut a piece of fabric of the appropriate size and soak it in the resulting solution.
Apply starch to the glass with a sponge and glue the wet tulle.
