Monument to the son of a CIA employee who died in the Russian army was erected in occupied Donetsk

In Donetsk, on the territory temporarily subordinated to the occupiers, a bust of Michael Gloss, an American who served in the Russian army and died during the war in Ukraine, was installed. The opening ceremony was held at Local School No. 115.

Gloss, the son of Julianne Gallini, who is the deputy director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage for “steadfastness and selflessness” in the battles near Godinnikov Yar. According to Russian sources, he tried to save his wounded comrade. The award was presented to him personally by Vladimir Putin.

In addition to the bust of Gloss, the school also installed a memorial to another soldier, Corporal Ivan Kokovin, who died during the storming of the Ukrainian city. This event was announced by Alexei Kulemzin, appointed by the Russian authorities.

Michael Gloss died in April 2024 while serving with the 137th Ryazan Airborne Regiment. He expressed dissatisfaction with US policy, considering violence an integral part of American strategy. During conversations with his family, he claimed that he was working in Russia and saving money for a trip to Africa.

Earlier, it became known that after visiting Moscow, US special envoy Steve Witkoff presented the mother of the deceased with a state award of the Russian Federation, emphasizing that the Gloss family asks for respect for their privacy.
