“Teachers have had enough of the lessons!”: Teacher criticizes parents who condemn schools

Ukrainian language teacher Svitlana Chernyshova from Dnipro has appealed to parents of students who often criticize teachers, accusing them of not paying enough attention to their students. She shared her thoughts in a TikTok video.

In her support, Chernyshova spoke about various aspects of her working day. In particular, she focused on the need to move with children to shelters during alarms and other unforeseen situations. In her opinion, parents should communicate more with their children rather than criticize teachers.

“Enough of teaching us that we do nothing. If you think we don’t deserve to be paid, then remember who helps children with homework and explains topics to them,” she addressed the parents.

Chernyshova sees no reason to criticize, because the teaching profession itself involves significant responsibility: “Is there any other profession where, without additional training and financial support, a person teaches children, makes lesson plans, and runs to shelter during alarms?”

She also emphasized that, in addition to teaching, teachers constantly monitor children’s safety and health, instill good manners, and address students’ questions and concerns. Moreover, in the evening, often until 9 or 10 p.m., they continue to interact with parents.

The teacher disagreed with the statements that everyone now lives in the same conditions. In her opinion, during alarms, many organizations break down, and teachers are forced to constantly answer parents’ calls and prepare for the next school day.

“Your children spend most of the day with us, and it is to us that they open up in those moments when there is no parental attention at home. Therefore, instead of criticizing teachers, spend more time communicating with your children,” Chernyshova concluded.
