Brigitte Macron became a figure of scandal because of her statements about protesters
Brigitte Macron has once again found herself in the spotlight for her remarks. A video of the French first lady calling female activists “dirty bitches” has gone viral, sparking widespread public outrage.
The incident occurred backstage at the Folies Bergère theater in Paris, where Macron and her daughter Tiefen Ozier were attending a performance by comedian Ari Abittan. He was arrested in 2021 on charges of sexual assault, but the case was dropped after a three-year investigation. However, activists in France regularly protest his return to the stage, and a group of women recently interrupted his performance, chanting, “Abittan is a rapist.”
Abittan met with Macron on the eve of the show and expressed concern about possible protests. In response, the first lady said with a smile, “If there are any dirty bitches here, we will kick them out.” Journalists from the local publication Public published this moment.
After the criticism, Macron’s representatives clarified that she did not mean the activists as individuals, but instead expressed an opinion about their radical protest methods.
