Online poker without licenses: law enforcement officers shut down illegal service

Law enforcement officers in Odessa discovered an illegal online poker service that operated through a specially designed mobile application. It was created by two brothers aged 26 and 25, who operated it without the necessary licenses and actively advertised it online, attracting new users.

According to information from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, players had the opportunity to replenish their gaming accounts online and participate in poker games. The brothers ensured the smooth operation of the service and promoted it to increase profits.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized mobile devices, draft records, poker chips, decks of cards, as well as a BMW car used for the organizers’ activities.

Detectives of the territorial department of the BEB in the Odessa region reported suspicion to the brothers under Part 2 of Article 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns the illegal organization or conduct of gambling. The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for procedural management in this case, and the investigation is ongoing.
