Real winter is returning: where in Ukraine it will get colder on Christmas Eve

After a long period of heat in Ukraine, the country is experiencing classic winter weather. Already at the start of the new week, thermometers will begin to drop, and frosts and local snowfalls are expected on Christmas Eve.

According to weather forecasters, from December 23 to 25, weather conditions in Ukraine will gradually change to winter. Cold air from the northern latitudes will provide a significant drop in temperature, according to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center.

No sharp changes are expected on December 23. During the day, the temperature will remain relatively stable, but at night in the northeast, a cold snap will be felt.

December 24 will be a key moment. In most regions, thermometers will drop to -3…-8°C, and at night in the north and east, frosts of up to -12°C are possible. Light wet snow is forecast in many regions, except the southeastern areas. In the Odessa region, precipitation may mix with rain, and ice on the roads is not excluded.

On December 25, cold weather will cover all of Ukraine. No precipitation is expected today, but low temperatures will persist both during the day and at night.

During the week, the temperature in Ukraine will vary from -13°C at night to +7°C during the day during transitional periods. In some regions, snowfall, gusty winds, and blizzards are possible.

After December 25, warming is not predicted; “plus” temperatures will disappear across the country. The temperature will remain stable between -4 and -10 °C, which will ultimately determine the winter-like weather during the Christmas holidays.
