Scholarships will double: which students will receive an increase in payments?
Starting September 1, 2026, Ukrainian students will receive a significant increase in their scholarships — payments will double. The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine announced that these changes apply to both universities and colleges, and they have already been included in the state budget for next year.
According to the new terms, the basic academic scholarship, which is currently 2,000 hryvnias, will increase to 4,000 hryvnias, while the increased scholarship will change from 2,910 hryvnias to 5,820 hryvnias.
In addition, other scholarship types will be revised. For example, the scholarship for the President of Ukraine will increase from 10,000 to 20,000 hryvnias, and payments from the Verkhovna Rada will increase from 4,400 to 8,800 hryvnias. The Cabinet of Ministers scholarship will increase from 4,000 to 8,000 hryvnias. Sectoral scholarships will also double: from 2,550 hryvnias to 5,100 hryvnias, and the increased option, from 3,710 hryvnias to 7,420 hryvnias.
For college students, the changes will be noticeable as well. The presidential scholarship will increase from 7,600 hryvnias to 15,200 hryvnias, and the parliamentary scholarship – from 3,320 hryvnias to 6,640 hryvnias. The minimum academic scholarship will increase from 1,510 hryvnias to 3,020 hryvnias, and the maximum scholarship will increase from 2,197 hryvnias to 4,394 hryvnias.
The state budget for 2026 provides for 6.6 billion hryvnias for academic and personal scholarships, which is 1.2 billion hryvnias more than in 2025.
Let us recall that earlier, the issue of reducing the term of study at universities was already discussed, which caused indignation among students.
