France is developing a new type of aircraft: Dassault uses Harmattan AI

French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation is actively expanding its combat aviation capabilities through the use of artificial intelligence. It recently announced a partnership with Harmattan AI, a company specializing in the development of autonomous defense systems. This cooperation aims to accelerate the process of integrating AI into new air combat programs.

As part of this agreement, Dassault Aviation has invested $ 200 million in a Series B round in Harmattan AI to increase the use of artificial intelligence in combat missions. It is planned to use these funds to expand into new operational areas and scale up production of reconnaissance systems, drones, and electronic warfare systems.

Representatives of Dassault emphasized that Harmattan AI has already implemented several weapons projects for the French and British Ministries of Defense, particularly in the field of autonomous systems, making this company an important strategic partner in the development of European defense technology.

Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation, said that this partnership is a step towards introducing a high level of autonomy into the latest generation of combat aircraft systems. Harmattan AI solutions are expected to be integrated into the Rafale F5 and UCAS unmanned combat systems, offering an opportunity to enhance France’s technological independence in the defense sector.
