Power outages may increase in Ukraine: how to prepare

In Ukraine, there is a possibility of extending the duration of power outages if new generating capacities are not introduced in the near future. This was stated by energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev in his interview.

He emphasized that without additional energy sources, restrictions for household consumers may become longer and more noticeable. The mode of outages will depend on the effectiveness of the active protection system for energy infrastructure.

The expert noted that with the presence of adequate air defense and modern technologies, such as drones for intercepting Shahed drones, the duration of outages will increase gradually, without sharp fluctuations. If there are not enough resources to repel attacks, the situation may deteriorate much faster, as has already happened, in particular on January 9.

According to Ryabtsev, stabilization in the energy system largely depends on the speed of commissioning new generating capacities. The sooner such facilities become operational, the less strain will be placed on existing resources, which, in turn, will contribute to shorter outage periods for the population.
