Smuggling under the hood: an attempt to illegally export excisable goods was detected at the Moldovan border
On the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, law enforcement officers prevented an attempt to illegally move excisable products. The contraband was discovered during an inspection of a car driven by a foreigner.
At the Starokozache checkpoint, border guards of the Bilhorod-Dniester detachment, having received operational information, stopped a car used by a 33-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova. Together with customs officers, they inspected the Peugeot vehicle and discovered a hidden batch of excisable goods.
In particular, more than 300 packages of liquid for electronic cigarettes were found, which were carefully hidden in the engine compartment. During the inspection, it was established that the man purchased these products for the purpose of further sale in Moldova.
As a result of the incident, the vehicle and the seized products were confiscated. An administrative report was drawn up against the driver for violation of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
In addition, a scheme for illegal transportation of people across the border was discovered in the Odessa region, in which an employee of Ukrzaliznytsia participated. The criminals offered clients a “ticket” for 9,000 US dollars, and one of them was detained when he received 7,000 dollars.
The State Border Guard Service continues to carry out measures to detect and prevent illegal actions at the border.
