Use of CCK weapons during mobilization: what possibilities exist

Can representatives of the TCC use weapons for self-defense?

MP Oleksandr Fedienko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, confirmed that representatives of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) have the right to use weapons for self-defense in case of a threat to their lives. He announced this information during a broadcast on the LVIV MEDIA channel.

According to him, during mobilization events, persons representing the TCCs must take care of their safety. Oleksandr Fedienko noted that servicemen working in the TCCs are not prohibited from using weapons in conditions of threat.

Although the MP did not focus on the word “weapons”, he emphasized that the legislation establishes the relevant rights for the military. “I didn’t talk about weapons. Although, on the other hand, no one forbids them to do this. The statute is in effect. The police also have weapons, and in the case of preventive measures against servicemen who have voluntarily left the unit with weapons, we take into account security issues,” the deputy explained.

Fedienko emphasized that the actions of law enforcement officers and the military in situations with possible threats must be within the framework of certain security standards.

Let us recall that on April 2, a tragic incident occurred in Lviv, when a man stabbed a serviceman of the CCC and fled. The victim was taken to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life due to the severity of the injuries. A similar incident occurred on April 6 in Kharkiv, when a serviceman of the CCC was stabbed during a document check.

These situations once again emphasize the need to increase attention to the safety of CCC representatives while performing mobilization tasks.
