Last night’s dinner could lead to hospitalization: which familiar dishes become dangerous overnight

Leaving food “for later” can be a health hazard. Although high temperatures during cooking do not always kill all bacteria, improper storage can turn familiar dishes into a threat.

Experts emphasize: a popular mistake of many people is the belief that heating food destroys all harmful microbes. In fact, some of them, including spores, can survive even after heat treatment, especially if the products have been left at room temperature.

One of the most dangerous products is considered pizza. This is due to the variety of its fillings, where vegetables may be undercooked and spices contaminated. Cheese and meat create ideal conditions for the development of bacteria. If pizza has been left on the table overnight, it can become dangerous after just a few hours. To avoid this risk, it is recommended to put it in the refrigerator no later than two hours after cooking.

An equally risky product is chicken. Due to its high water and protein content, it spoils quickly. If the meat was not cooked enough or contains bloody areas, the risk of poisoning increases. Even storage in the refrigerator does not guarantee safety.

Rice also deserves special attention. It may contain bacterial spores that survive cooking. If cooked rice is left at room temperature, these spores become active and begin to multiply rapidly. Therefore, rice dishes should be cooled quickly and stored in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours.

Proper storage of canned food is also important. After opening, it is not recommended to leave them in tin cans – it is better to transfer the product to glass or plastic containers and store in the refrigerator. Moreover, even in the cold, canned food has a limited shelf life.

Experts emphasize: the main rule of safety is not to leave ready-made food at room temperature for more than two hours. If you have doubts about the quality of the product, it is better not to risk it.
