Doctors have provided important advice on protecting children from allergies

Medical experts have confirmed that early exposure of children to certain foods can boost their immunity and reduce the risk of allergies.

Studies have shown that while it was previously believed that foods such as peanuts and eggs were unsafe for children under three years of age, in practice this is not the case. For example, in the USA, the number of children with allergies has increased to 8%, which in some cases can be life-threatening.

Today, experts are proposing a new approach: it is worth introducing the body to potential allergens through the gastrointestinal tract. This approach helps the immune system recognize them as safe.

Important evidence is the large LEAP study, which showed that children from the risk group who regularly consumed peanuts from an early age had a significantly lower likelihood of developing allergies.

Modern doctors recommend avoiding bans on children’s nutrition. On the contrary, careful introduction of potential allergens into the diet can “train” the immune system and reduce the likelihood of hypersensitivity.

Skin Contact

Studies show that the increase in food allergies correlates with the increase in dry skin and eczema. Even mild forms of eczema increase the risk of allergic reactions, as allergens can enter the body through microcracks in the skin, causing an incorrect immune response.

However, the presence of dry skin is not a reason to delay the introduction of new foods. On the contrary, it should be a signal to pay more attention to the process of introducing new foods.

Actions in the presence of allergies

Modern treatments include allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT), which consists in the gradual introduction of small doses of the allergen to “retrain” the immune system.

For those who are concerned about possible side effects, milder methods are also being developed, such as sublingual preparations with low concentrations of allergens.

Therefore, an important conclusion of doctors is that children should not be isolated from certain foods, but, on the contrary, correctly and in a timely manner introduce them to a variety of dishes in order to adequately form their immune system.
