There is a concentration of cars at the border before Easter

On the Ukrainian border in Lviv region, there is an increase in the number of cars entering the country, the State Border Guard Service reports.

Currently, the largest number of cars is concentrated at the Shehyny checkpoint, where there are approximately 70 cars in line. 60 vehicles are waiting at Krakivka, and 10 at Uhryniv. An accumulation of buses is also recorded: there are 10 of them at Shehyny, and 6 at Krakivka.

Other checkpoints in Lviv region are operating without significant delays. There are currently no queues on the way out of Ukraine. Border guards advise taking the current situation into account when planning trips and, if possible, choosing less busy crossings.

The increase in passenger flows at the border is likely due to the approaching Easter holidays. During this period, Ukrainians who work or live abroad traditionally return home, as well as those who plan to visit relatives or make short trips to EU countries.

According to monitoring services, the maximum load on the Ukrainian-Polish border is predicted from April 7 to 17. The busiest checkpoints will remain “Krakyvets”, “Shehyni” and “Ustylug”. During peak hours, the announced waiting time can vary from one to three hours, depending on the direction of movement and time of day.

Based on the experience of previous years, significant queues form on the eve of Easter, especially on Holy Saturday, when many people try to cross the border for a festive dinner.

Experts recommend planning trips for the night — from 23:00 to 06:00 — or in the morning for a faster border crossing. It is also useful to use online monitoring services to obtain up-to-date information about the situation at checkpoints.

The State Border Service noted that the situation at the border is under control, and checkpoints are operating normally.

The European Union is currently transitioning to a new border crossing registration system, which provides for automatic registration of entries and exits instead of traditional stamps in the passports of third-country nationals, including Ukrainians.
