Prices for higher education in Ukraine have increased by 60%: the most expensive specialties have been revealed
The cost of studying at Ukrainian universities has increased dramatically. Over the past four years, the price has risen by 60%, with the largest growth observed in 2025.
These data are provided by the educational portal Education.ua.
According to the study, the average cost of education increased every year: in 2022 it was 19,171 UAH, in 2023 – 21,591 UAH, in 2024 – 25,347 UAH, and in 2025 it already reached 30,798 UAH.
Specialties related to international activities, management and finance are becoming especially expensive. For example, tuition fees for the “International Relations” specialty increased by 93% over four years — from UAH 24,920 to UAH 48,079, and the “Public Health” specialty increased in price by 77% — from UAH 20,284 to UAH 35,809.
The most expensive were programs in the fields of dentistry, medicine, international relations, law, IT, and art. These specialties annually occupy the top positions in the rating of the most expensive.
Instead, the lowest prices are observed in directions that are considered critically important for the economy, such as railway transport, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, energy production and agricultural specialties.
As for private institutions, a higher level of expenses is typical here, where tuition starts at UAH 100,000 per year. For example, in 2025, a year of study at the American University of Kyiv was on average UAH 323,999, at Sigmund Freud University Ukraine — UAH 315,000, and at the Ukrainian Catholic University — UAH 147,000.
At the same time, the cheapest education is offered in pedagogical and spiritual institutions. In 2025, the lowest prices were observed at the Taurian Christian Institute, where a year of study cost an average of UAH 11,750, at the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy — UAH 15,000, and at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University — UAH 15,177.
Against the background of these changes, a large-scale corruption scheme in veterinary institutions was recently exposed in Kyiv, where documents for the departure of animals were expedited for bribes.
