How can Ukrainians legally increase the amount of their pension if they are dissatisfied with it
Many Ukrainians are faced with a situation where their pension turns out to be lower than they expected. In such cases, the law allows you to challenge the assessment and request a recalculation. The Pension Fund of Ukraine reminded about this possibility.
The reasons for the appeal can be various. Most often, this is caused by simple mistakes in calculations or inaccuracies in the calculation of the insurance share. In addition, people often complain about a refusal to grant a pension or a delay in filing documents. Cases of violation of rights to preferential or early retirement are distinguished separately.
You can declare your claims in different ways. The easiest way is to contact the higher body of the Pension Fund. This can be done in writing, through an official portal with an electronic signature, or in person. After submitting the appeal, the answer must be provided within 15 days.
However, it is important to remember that the pension may be lower not only because of mistakes, but also because of the mechanism of its calculation. The system automatically excludes the periods with the lowest incomes, which affect the average earnings. Sometimes it can be beneficial, and sometimes it can be the opposite.
Another aspect is a change in the type of pension. A person can hope for a promotion, but due to the peculiarities of the formula, even additional experience may not provide a significant increase in benefits.
Therefore, if the amount in the payment raises doubts, you should not remain silent. At best, it’s just a technical glitch that can be fixed. In the worst case, you will have to understand the formula more deeply. But as experience shows, nothing will change without an appeal.
We will remind you that the Pension Fund of Ukraine warned about the importance of checking the documents that are necessary for the correct calculation of the pension. Earlier we also wrote that indexation of pensions does not bring the desired results for many pensioners.
