Rising prices for basic products: stores have updated the prices of pasta, flour, and sugar
Ukrainians’ salaries and pensions have not kept up with the significant increase in prices, which has affected even basic food products. Monitoring data on the Ministry of Finance portal reflected changes in the cost of pasta, flour, and sugar in April.
The increase in prices for socially important products is felt most by pensioners and low-income people, who rely on this category of food due to their low income. In early April, prices for pasta and flour increased, while sugar became cheaper.
Pasta prices
The cost of penne pasta rose from 33.38 to 34.16 hryvnias per kilogram. However, in some supermarkets, prices exceed 41 hryvnias per kilogram.
Flour prices
The cost of the wheat flour “Khutorok” increased from 30.61 to 31.39 hryvnias per kilogram. However, buying a 2-kilogram package is more profitable—its price is 54.54 hryvnia.
Sugar prices
The price of sugar has decreased by more than a hryvnia, from 34.70 to 33.25 hryvnia per kilogram. In most supermarkets, prices for this product are at a similar level.
During such price fluctuations, consumers face an increase in the cost of basic products, which is a serious problem, especially for budget segments of the population.
