In Subnautica 2, survival without a knife: get ready for adventures with friends and AI
The Subnautica 2 development team has finally shared details about continuing the iconic underwater story. Get ready for new challenges, research, and the absence of weapons – you won’t even have a knife.
This week, the studio showed the first gameplay, confirming that Subnautica 2 will be available in early access at the end of 2025, and the full release is planned for 2027-2028.
What’s new:
Among the most significant innovations is a four-player cooperative. Players can build bases together, repair equipment, and explore the dark depths, but even in the company of friends, the developers will provide an atmosphere of individual experience.
Another interesting feature will be body leveling. Players can “absorb” genetic material from discovered creatures, mutating and gaining new abilities. The AI assistant will recommend what to try, but emphasize that the consequences can be unpredictable.
Thanks to the Unreal Engine, the game looks stunning. Biomes become more complex, new depths become more gloomy, and new zones like the Observatory and Graveyard are added.
Subnautica 2 will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC at launch and on Game Pass on the day of Early Access. The team promises to share updates and devlogs, so stay tuned.
