Agatha Christie will be ‘revived’ with the help of AI to teach a course on writing skills

Agatha Christie, the Legend of the Detective Genre, to be ‘Resurrected’ Through Artificial Intelligence

Agatha Christie, the legendary figure in detective fiction, is set to be “resurrected” with the help of artificial intelligence technologies. According to reports, her digital avatar will lead a writing masterclass on the BBC Maestro platform.

In this project, actress Vivien Keen will help create Christie’s visual likeness. AI will ensure maximum accuracy in modeling Christie’s face based on archival materials, while her voice will be recreated using digitized audio recordings.

The course will consist of 11 short video lessons, each lasting no more than 20 minutes. These lessons will be developed based on Christie’s literary works, interviews, and archival commentary. During the lessons, participants will learn how Agatha Christie structured her works, created characters, and introduced elements of deception to keep readers on edge.

The cost of the course will be 79 pounds. Additionally, it can be accessed as part of a 120-pound annual subscription to BBC Maestro, which will also provide access to other lectures, including those by author Jojo Moyes.

Michael Levin, CEO of BBC Maestro, emphasized that the course will offer an opportunity to “hear her story firsthand, including insights into her past, inspirations, and the skills she developed throughout her life.”

James Prichard, Agatha Christie’s great-grandson, also commented on the initiative, noting that the research team had managed to gather a substantial amount of insights and advice from the author regarding writing fiction.

Agatha Christie, born in 1890 in Devon, is one of the most famous authors of the 20th century. She published her first detective novel, “The Mysterious Affair at Styles”, in 1920, introducing the iconic detective Hercule Poirot. In 1927, Christie created another legendary character, Miss Marple.
