Guy Ritchie to Direct Sequel to “Road House” for Amazon MGM Studios

Guy Ritchie has taken on directing duties for the sequel to Road House for Amazon MGM Studios. Jake Gyllenhaal will reprise his role as Dalton, the former UFC fighter.

This film will continue the story from the remake of the cult 1989 action movie starring Patrick Swayze. The first installment was released on Prime Video in March last year and recorded around 80 million views worldwide, marking a significant success for streaming platforms.

The sequel will be the third collaboration between Ritchie and Gyllenhaal, as well as their second joint project with Amazon MGM after The Covenant. The script is being written by Will Beall, and producers include Charles Roven (Atlas Entertainment), Alex Gartner, Jake Gyllenhaal (Nine Stories Productions), Josh McLaughlin, and Ivan Atkinson, who will serve as executive producer.

The plot of the sequel remains under wraps. In the first film, Gyllenhaal’s character — a former fighter trying to start a new life — works as a bouncer at a bar in the Florida Keys but soon finds himself entangled in conflicts with local criminals and bikers.

The sequel was first announced last summer when the project was still in early development, and a release date has yet to be confirmed.
