Ukrainian Investigator Accuses Former Military Officer of Procurement Fraud
Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have formally charged a former head of the food supply service of a military unit operating in the Kherson region with abuse of office.
According to available evidence, in 2023, the official facilitated the signing of a bread procurement agreement with a private entrepreneur who sold the product at significantly inflated prices — over 9 UAH more per kilogram than the market average.
The total value of the contract reached 3.519 million UAH, resulting in an overpayment of more than 1 million UAH from the state budget.
Legal Classification of the Offense
The former officer is charged under Part 2, Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of power or official position for the purpose of obtaining unlawful benefits for a third party. This offense is punishable by up to six years in prison and a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.
Law enforcement authorities are continuing to investigate the case, focusing primarily on potential collusion between the official and the supplier.
