Netflix has officially announced a new animated series inspired by Minecraft, set to debut on June 12. Produced by WildBrain—the studio behind Sonic Prime and Ninjago: Dragons Rising—the show is expected to captivate fans of the beloved sandbox game.

The premiere is scheduled to take place at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2025. While many plot details remain under wraps, the series promises to transport viewers into the familiar world of Minecraft through a fresh new perspective. It will feature both fan-favorite characters and exciting new additions to the universe.

This animated project comes in the wake of the massive success of Minecraft: The Movie, which recently premiered to record-breaking box office numbers. Warner Bros. Pictures has already confirmed plans for a sequel, signaling the franchise’s growing cultural momentum.

In addition to the upcoming sequel, Merlin Entertainments has signed a deal with Mojang to develop Minecraft-themed attractions in the UK and the US, slated to open between 2026 and 2027.

Released on April 4, 2025, Minecraft: The Movie grossed over $237 million during its opening weekend, surpassing blockbuster hits like Barbie and The Hunger Games. The film was praised for its humor, visual effects, and fidelity to the spirit of the game.
