Former Deputy Secretary of the RBNO Gladkovskyi Arrested in Spain

On May 14, 2025, Oleg Gladkovsky, former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, was detained in Spain.

According to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Gladkovsky, who also served as the head of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Defense-Industrial Complex, had been wanted since June 2024 on suspicion of abuses during the procurement of equipment for military needs.

Law enforcement officials reported that Gladkovsky, the former Deputy Minister of Defense and the director of the relevant department, organized a scheme under which trucks with increased cross-country ability were supplied to fulfill a state defense order. However, the cost of these vehicles was overstated, resulting in losses to the state of more than 17 million hryvnias.

The issue of Gladkovsky’s extradition to Ukraine for further investigation and trial is currently being considered.
