”If you don’t want to serve, pay”: soldier sells certificates of unfitness

A serviceman was detained in the Ternopil region who was trying to establish an illegal business. Together with the State Bureau of Investigation, the internal security of the police, and the SBU, it was established that at the end of 2024, he offered a resident his services by issuing a fake certificate of unfitness for military service, which could lead to his exclusion from military registration.

For this service, the detainee demanded $25,000, with $20,000 due in advance and the remaining $5,000 upon receipt of the documents. If the client refused, the serviceman threatened to simplify the mobilization procedure.

The attacker was detained during the transfer of the second part of the payment. He has already been charged, and a decision on a preventive measure will be made shortly. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are investigating the possible involvement of other persons in this case.

Additionally, the State Bureau of Investigation had previously detained the head of the military medical commission at one of the medical institutions of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. It is known that the colonel of the medical service organized a scheme to receive bribes for assisting service members in transferring from the combat zone to the rear units, offering them to issue medical documents without real grounds.
