Pensioners are threatened with a reduction in pensions: what factors will affect this
In Ukraine, pensioners may face a reduction in pension payments in 2025 due to a lack of necessary documents.
The main problem is the lack of certificates certifying the fact of dismissal from work. Despite the increasing digitalization of state processes, some still rely on paper documents. In situations where the Pension Fund does not receive confirmation of unemployment, a person is automatically considered employed, which affects the amount of their pension.
For example, there is a case where a woman was not recalculated because she did not provide documents about her dismissal, even though the company where she worked no longer exists. As a result, her pension is calculated as if she were an employed person without taking into account the new subsistence minimum. For the unemployed, the amount is 2,361 hryvnia, while for those officially considered employed, it may remain at the level of 1,700 hryvnia.
This problem also applies to pensioners-entrepreneurs. Even if they do not receive income and do not pay contributions, they can still be classified as employed without documentary evidence. To change this status, you must provide an entry in the workbook, an extract from the register, or an order of dismissal. If you are an internally displaced person or unable to provide the necessary certificates, please submit an application explaining your situation.
The Pension Fund has access to information, but confirmation of the dismissal remains with the pensioner.
This situation can be partly explained by the events of 2014 when Russian aggression led to destabilization in Ukraine. At that time, the country was forced to direct resources to defense, which negatively affected the financial system, including the pension fund. Therefore, it is essential to understand your rights and submit the required documents on time.
It is worth noting that recent news has warned pensioners about a possible reduction in pensions due to insufficient documentation, so it is advisable to ensure their availability in advance.
