Supplement for pensioners: a small amount, but not for everyone

On June 1, at the age of 87, world-famous ballerina Valentina Kalinovska passed away. For over two decades, she has captivated audiences with her talent in classical and modern ballet performances.

The Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine confirmed this tragic news.

“Her touring performances on leading world stages significantly contributed to the popularization of Ukrainian ballet art abroad, opening up opportunities for participation in leading international festivals,” the message says.

Among her most significant roles, one can single out such performances as “Shurale” (Syuimbike), “Spartacus” (Aegina), “Stone Flower” (Mistress of the Copper Mountain), “The Legend of Love” (Mekhmene-banu), “The Corsair” (Medora), “Giselle” (Mirta), “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai” (Zarema), “The Blue Danube” (Francisca), “The Stone Master” (Donna Anna) and, of course, “Carmen” – the first version embodied on the Kyiv stage, which became a standard for subsequent generations.

Valentina Kalinovska’s performances have become part of the cultural heritage of Ukrainian choreographic art. Her impressive jumps, plasticity, and acting skills have left a lasting impression on the hearts of the audience.

“We have lost a uniquely creative personality, a dancer who impressed with her high technique, elegant culture, and artistry. The name of Valentina Kalinovska will always remain in the memory of those who had the honor of working with her and watching her inspired dance on stage, immortalized in numerous recordings that preserved the golden era of Ukrainian ballet,” the statement says.

At the moment, the cause of the ballerina’s death remains unknown.
