Zelenskyy announced the goals of Operation “Spiderweb”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the Vilnius Summit of the Bucharest Nine and the Nordic countries on June 2, stressed that Russia must realize its losses.
Zelenskyy noted: “This is an important moment. On the one hand, Russia has intensified its summer offensive, but on the other hand, it needs to negotiate. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for all of us. This is a chance to stop the war.”
He emphasized that defense support remains a top priority for Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the aid packages received and investments in the development of military production.
Zelenskyy is confident that Europe and the United States possess superior weapons to those of Russia. “We also have stronger tactical solutions. Our operation “Web” demonstrated this. Russia must realize that the costs are a reality, which may push it to diplomacy,” he stressed.
The president emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine to end the war and prevent its escalation. “That is why weapons production is important,” he added.
Zelensky also mentioned that the country is capable of providing up to 40% of its own weapons needs, but this requires stable financing. “Our operation has shown how large investments, in particular in the production of drones, can affect the situation,” he concluded.
At the same time, during the CSTO summit, Putin announced a possible new missile strike on Ukraine, saying that the target could be “decision-making centers in Kyiv.”
